Cookies Policy

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser when you visit. They allow the site to remember certain information between page loads and visits — for example, whether you have accepted a cookie consent notice, or to maintain a session while you navigate.

Modern browsers also use related technologies alongside cookies: localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB. These work similarly to cookies in that they store data in your browser, but they are not transmitted with HTTP requests the way cookies are. This policy covers all of these mechanisms.

Our Approach to Cookies

CasinoMaps.net is a static editorial website. We do not operate e-commerce, user accounts, paywalls, or subscription services. As a result, our use of cookies and browser storage is minimal by design. We do not use advertising cookies, behavioral tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking networks of any kind.

Our policy is to use only the cookies and storage mechanisms that are technically necessary for the site to function correctly. We do not set cookies for marketing purposes, and we do not share cookie data with advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics aggregators.

Types of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the basic operation of the site. They do not collect personal information and cannot be switched off without disabling site features entirely. Examples include security cookies that prevent cross-site request forgery on form submissions.

Duration: Session-only (deleted when you close the browser tab) or short-lived (max 7 days).
Third-party: None.

Functional Storage (Map Tile Cache)

The interactive casino map uses MapLibre GL to render satellite imagery. MapLibre uses browser localStorage or IndexedDB to cache map tiles — this improves load times on repeat visits by avoiding redundant tile downloads. The cached data contains only map tile images, not any personal information.

When the map loads tiles from Esri ArcGIS Online, your browser communicates directly with Esri's servers. Esri may set their own performance or analytics cookies as part of this interaction. These cookies are governed by Esri's privacy policy, not ours. You can review Esri's data practices at esri.com/en-us/privacy/overview.

Duration: Persistent (tile cache until browser storage is cleared).
Third-party: Esri ArcGIS (tile imagery only).

Analytics (If in Use)

We may use a privacy-respecting, self-hosted analytics system to measure aggregate page traffic. If analytics are active, no personal identifiers are stored and no data is shared with advertising or data-brokerage networks. IP addresses are anonymized before storage. We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party analytics platform that shares data with advertising networks.

Duration: If analytics cookies are used, they are session-based or expire within 30 days.
Third-party: None.

Cookies We Do NOT Use

To be explicit, the following categories of cookies are not used on CasinoMaps.net:

  • Advertising / retargeting cookies (Google Ads, Meta Pixel, Trade Desk, etc.)
  • Social media tracking pixels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok)
  • Third-party analytics that share data with advertising platforms
  • A/B testing or session-recording tools (Hotjar, FullStory, Crazy Egg, etc.)
  • Affiliate tracking cookies on outbound links to casino operators
  • Login or authentication cookies (we have no user accounts)

How to Manage Cookies

You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Deleting or blocking cookies from CasinoMaps.net will not prevent you from using the casino directory, reading editorial content, or viewing the interactive map. No core functionality depends on cookies being accepted.

To delete cookies in your browser:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data → See all site data and permissions → search for casinomaps.net → Delete.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data → search for casinomaps.net → Remove.
  • Safari: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data → search for casinomaps.net → Delete.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data → See all cookies and site data → search for casinomaps.net → Delete.

You can also use browser extensions such as Privacy Badger or uBlock Origin to block third-party storage requests in real time. These tools work independently of per-site cookie settings and provide broader protection across all sites you visit.

Updates to This Policy

We may update this cookies policy as our technology or third-party dependencies change. Updates will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If we add a new category of cookies (for example, if we add a consent management system), we will update this policy before deployment and note the change.
